Here are some of the new and emerging trends around dinosaur rides:

  • More realistic animatronic dinosaurs. Technology is allowing ride designers to create dinosaur robots that move and behave in incredibly lifelike ways, with fluid motions and detailed skin textures. This makes the ride experience feel more immersive.
  • Increased interactivity. Many new dinosaur rides are incorporating interactive elements, where riders can control features or trigger reactions from the dinosaurs during the ride. This could include shooting targets, answering trivia questions, or using consoles and buttons in the ride vehicle.
  • Motion simulator rides. These rides use motion simulator platforms and 3D/4D cinema screens to create an extremely realistic experience of flying alongside or interacting with dinosaurs. Riders feel every bump, dip and turn as they’re surrounded by vivid dinosaur imagery.
  • Drone integration. Some rides now feature camera-equipped drones that fly alongside the ride vehicles, providing riders with an aerial view of the dinosaurs and enclosure alongside the main ride. The drone footage is live-streamed to screens inside the vehicles.
  • Augmented/virtual reality. AR and VR are being incorporated into some new dinosaur ride experiences. Riders wear headsets that fully immerse them in a CGI dinosaur environment as the ride carries them through a physical course.
  • Indoor/outdoor experiences. New large dinosaur parks are being built featuring both indoor and outdoor ride courses, sometimes combining dark ride building sets with large scale outdoor animatronics.
  • Coaster elements. More dinosaur rides feature roller coaster-style tracks, drops, launches and inversions for a thrill ride experience alongside the dinosaur encounters.
